Russell - Skunk's Nest/A-House

Russell made it back to the finals for the 3rd consecutive year, winning this year in the championship game3-1. Their road to finals was not easy, and included a 2-1 overtime win in the quarterfinals against a very good Colton team, and a close victory over #1 seed Harrisville in the semi-finals (winning in a shootout after a 1-1 regulation and overtime tie). The team's goalkeeper, Joe Sharpe, was named the most valuable player of the playoffs as he backed up a very good defense and came up with key saves in all 3 playoff games, including especially the shootout in the semi-finals (2 saves on 4 shots). The team's sweeper, Agustin Mendez, was named the most valuable defensive player in the Central division for the regular season, as he anchored a team defense that was largely responsible for the team's success. Some other noteworthy (and not so noteworthy) accomplishments: 18 goals against in 20 games (6 of them coming in one forgettable game!), having the quickest goal scored against a team to start a half in summer league championship game history (5 seconds into the second half Potsdam scored to tie the game 1-1), and receiving only 3 yellow cards in 20 games.
